About Rebecca Uwakwe, Esq.

Rebecca Uwakwe is a nationally recognized speaker, author of The Black Advocate, and a powerful storyteller who equips the next generation with the tools to navigate the professional world with confidence. Rebecca currently serves as Director of Criminal Law Reform Advocacy at the ACLU of New Jersey, where she has led major statewide initiatives addressing injustices in the criminal legal system. Before this role, she spent a decade as a trial attorney, gaining firsthand insight into how systems and institutions operate.

As a first-generation attorney, Rebecca understands how intimidating traditional institutions and professional spaces can feel when no one teaches you the rules.
